XXVIII Scientific Instrument Symposium ***** Meeting Announcement ***** The XXIIIrd International Congress of History of Science and Technology and On July 26-31, 2009 the XXIIIrd International Congress of History of Science and Technology will take place in Budapest, Hungary. The general theme will be IDEAS AND INSTRUMENTS IN SOCIAL CONTEXT. This is a perfect topic for the members of the Scientific Instrument Commission! We hope to have a major presence at the Congress and to contribute much to make the program a great success. The above announcement came from Sara Schechner, the SIC Secretary, who continued by indicating how you can help: 1) Organize a Symposium As an international commission, we are invited to organize several "scientific symposia" devoted to the conference themes. These symposia are in addition to meetings of our section with contributed papers. A symposium may have between 4 and 12 invited speakers. It must be organized by two scholars coming from two different countries. Speakers should also represent the international community as much as possible. Please send your proposal by email to the SIC Secretary as soon as possible, and no later than May 15th. This will give the Commission time to review the proposed symposia for conflicts or overlaps and to submit the proposals to the Congress Secretariat by its June 30th deadline. The Second Circular, which will be distributed on 30 September 2008, will contain the Preliminary Program. 2) Mark Your Calendar The Congress will run from July 26-31, 2009. Please join other SIC members there! For more information about the Congress, including the First Circular, travel and lodging information, etc., please visit http://www.conferences.hu/ichs09/. |
